Editorial Standards
Our aim is a useful explanation of a specific question. We do not use a fixed word count, a mandatory set of repeated sections or a table of unsupported performance numbers as a measure of quality.
Sources and claim boundaries
Important safety, equipment and policy statements link to sources such as governing bodies, warning services and manufacturers. The source list explains what each reference supports. A reference to a manufacturer applies to the relevant system; it is not an endorsement of every similar product.
When figures are included, their units and context must be stated. A regional forecast, a laboratory standard and a field observation answer different questions. We do not turn one into a universal safety threshold.
Explanations and practical skills
Mechanics explanations describe simplified relationships. A model is not a complete technique, rescue procedure or prediction of injury. Practical skills that depend on equipment, conditions or a participant's ability belong in suitable supervised training.
Progression is discussed in terms of demonstrated ability and an appropriate task. We do not promise readiness for a dangerous activity after a fixed number of days or sessions.
Authors and AI-assisted material
The current byline is the publishing organisation, ActionSportsHQ Editorial. We do not invent individual instructors, qualifications or field tests. Software-assisted drafts are revised against the available sources; they do not constitute an independent professional certification.
New generated cover images are identified as AI-generated editorial illustrations. They support the subject of the article, not technical instructions. A picture of equipment is not evidence that its configuration is approved.
Dates and corrections
Articles display one publication date. It stays fixed when the text or illustrations are revised, and article lists use that date to show the newest publications first. Where a source-check date is stated, it applies only to the references identified alongside it.
Calculations, diagrams and worksheets
The Swell Component Lab shows its formula, assumptions and worked arithmetic. Its outputs describe the inputs supplied, rather than an observed sea state. Component diagrams explain relationships and terminology; their proportions are schematic.
Downloadable worksheets provide blank records. Completed examples in the accompanying guides are labelled as fictional. A record of a symptom or clothing adjustment helps organise a later assessment; it is not a certification of equipment or conditions.
Send a correction through our contact page. Include the page, the specific statement and the relevant current reference. Material errors should be corrected or removed rather than hidden behind a disclaimer.
Advertising and commercial relationships
Advertising must be clearly identifiable and must not change source interpretation or risk descriptions. If a guide contains a paid relationship or affiliate recommendation, that relationship must be disclosed on the page. Current guides do not contain affiliate product links.
